About this platform ...

This site collects reports of the problems generated by faulty installations of software packages (RPMs).

Problems during the installation of packages occur due to different reasons like the package is missing in the repository or broken dependencies.

However, when a problem occur the Linux distribution is not automatically informed.

To overcome that limitation MANCOOSI project (EU project where Caixa Mágica and Mandriva are partners) defined a specific format for package installation problems report: the DUDF format.

How can I contribute to this effort of Quality Assurance?
  1. In your Linux Caixa Mágica system update your Apt package to version "apt-0.5.15lorg3.94pt" or higher.
  2. Uncomment all DUDF lines in file /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/caixamagica.conf

Now, all failed installations will be logged at /var/lib/apt/dudf/ directory.

From time to time, your system will communicate with DUDF platform and submit the logs of the installations upstream.

What is the privacy policy?

No personal information like IP, name, hostname or email is stored or transfered in any part of the process.

The problem report only contains the list of packages installed, the active repositories and apt error message.
